Bures C.C. v Leavenheath C.C.

vs

Leavenheath Cricket Club won by 7 wickets

Recap

Bures C.C. v Leavenheath C.C.

Another lovely Saturday summer morning welcomed Levenheath. Mark won the toss and elected to bat, given the dry wicket and the expectation of it breaking up in the second innings.

David and Steve opened the batting with both settling well and scoring 27 and 19. With the run rate, however, pegged back by the pair of opening bowlers (Jepson and Logan), Bures struggled to generate any momentum. With four wickets down for 50 runs, the Chairman entered the fray only to fall for 15. Max followed, having made joint top score (27). The most notable feature of the innings was no one was bowled – wickets falling to catches (8), stumping (1) and run out (1) – back to the nets I suspect to develop technique. We left Bures with 115 runs to win.

Levenheath made quick inroads into the score, reaching 70 for 1 wicket in 10 overs and wrapping up within 16.

We retired to the Shoes to analyse our performance, probably spending more time there than Levenheath did out in the middle!

Special mention to Katherine Holder for a delicious tea.
