An overcast evening, where at one point looked like the weather may prevent this match from taking place, luckily the weather held out as Bures welcomed St Martins for our usual midweek T20 match of the season.

Captain Carl back available for his first game of the season was great news (as keeper, not yet fit enough to bowl) and even better news that he kept up the usual tradition of Bures captains losing the toss. St Martins opted to bat on a very green deck, mainly because of the light fading fairly quickly. Aaron (on debut) & Matt opened up proceedings with the ball, keeping it very tight but ultimately not able to make a breakthrough. It took an absolute screamer from behind the stumps by Carl to get the first wicket, bowled by Luke.

Conditions were not easy to bat, but St Martins were slowly building an innings, Matt took 2 wickets in 2 balls towards the end and the innings finished with 119-4 after their 20 overs.

A quick turnaround meant there was only time for 1 beer in-between innings, Steve & Luke walked out to begin the chase, Luke was quickly back in the shed for 4 but Steve and Carl set about playing some nice strokes before Steve retired on 25 and Carl was bowled by an exceptionally slow ball for 14. Some good bowling bought about a couple more wickets, and it was all getting quite tight out in the middle. However, handy cameos from Adam (14), Giles (23) and Aaron (19*) saw Bures home by 3 wickets in the 19th over.

A welcome victory after 3 defeats in a row, and a pint or two in the Bells afterwards was enjoyed by all.
